• Image of Boulder Opal Necklace

This Australian opal is found only in Queensland.  The opal forms in fissures in its host ironstone.  The unique pattern of each boulder opal is natural, depending upon the shape and structure of the rock itself.  This boulder opal shows a distinctive range of colors from the browns of the ironstone to the blues, purples and teals of the opal material.  The opalescence can be seen, to a lesser extent, from the reverse and side of the stone.  Silver-wrapped, this unique gem hangs on an 18” silver box chain.
