Australia’s opals are the most desirable in the world.  Black opal is the best of the best.  The backing of this black opal doublet is ironstone, while the front shows characteristic rich shades of blue, green and a bit of red-orange-yellow.  It is wrapped in silver and hangs from an 18” sterling silver box chain.
